HVC Alkmaar bought the former „Gevudo" plant and decided to extend its capacity and to modernize the plant by building a 5th line having a capacity of 30 t waste per hour. The key challenges in this project were the small area and very tight emission limits.

Nangong/ Beijing

On 1 February 2005 Mr. Buchhorn started his own business and Nangong became his first contract.

From February to June 2005 he was involved in the Waste-to-Energy project Nangong. The plant will have two incineration lines and a total capacity of 1000 ton per day of municipal solid waste. …

ALKMAAR, WtE 4th LINE

In October 2002 Mr. Buchhorn started working for Electrowatt Ekono and became Project Manager Process for the HVC Alkmaar 4th line municipal waste incinerator in North Holland, Netherlands.

The plant, having a throughput of 27 t/h of waste and 75 MW thermal incineration capacity was build next to line 3 during uninterrupted operation.

From 1999 to 2002 Mr. Buchhorn was Head of Technology Project Development (BOOT) with BBP Environment Group, part of Deutsche Babcock. His position can be described as „Owner´s Engineer" with the following responsibilities:
