Nangong/ Beijing

On 1 February 2005 Mr. Buchhorn started his own business and Nangong became his first contract.

From February to June 2005 he was involved in the Waste-to-Energy project Nangong. The plant will have two incineration lines and a total capacity of 1000 ton per day of municipal solid waste. As the Consultant for the financing bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, Germany) and for the administration of Beijing City Mr. Buchhorn took care for the finalization of:

  • Feasibility Study
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Terms of Reference for Implementation Consultant
  • Support on Project Management
  • Implementation of Project Management tools

Place of work was BSWAD, Beijing Solid Waste Administration Department, a unit belonging to BMAC, Beijing Municipal Administration Commission.


Macau (Aomen)
In July and August 2005, Mr. Buchhorn was the “Integrated Engineer” in the client´s project team - CGS Macau Tratamento de Residuos Lda. He was contracted by Electrowatt-Ekono (today Pöyry Energy) for a period of 6 weeks to replace their local Engineer. The aim of this project was to double the existing plant MRIP (Macau Refuse Incineration Plant) by building 3 additional lines, each capableof 12 ton per hour of waste throughput. During his stay Mr. Buchhorn contributed to the project by drafting technical sections of the Request for Proposal document and took part in negotiations with the potential technology supplier (Mitsubishi).
